Due to technical limitations, this article uses an unusual title. It should be called  5"/62 caliber gun.

The 5-inch, 62-caliber gun is the main dual-purpose gun for naval gunfire support, some anti-surface warfare, and limited anti-air warfare on newer U.S. Navy warships. It is the successor to 5"-54 caliber guns, both the Mark 42 and Mark 45 versions. [1]

The weapon is controlled by the the Mk 160 gun weapon system (GWS), which also can control the 5"-54.

A significant operational advantage is that this gun can fire the Extended Range Guided Munition (ERGM) rocket-assisted guided shell which has a 63 nmi range in comparison with the 13 nmi (14.9 statue miles) range of the unguided shell. It is capable of Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact (MRSI).
