==Math 'align' environment==
I am not entirely satisfied with the format of the multi-line equations in the Derivations section.  I have tried using align and eqnarray to keep them as a single equation; and hphantom, hspace, and quad to insert blank space at the beginning of the lines that need it, all without success.  Does anybody know how to make an equation array correctly aligned here?

Update: I have searched the forums and found other people with this problem, but still no solution.  This is, I believe, the only thing left
for this article before I would consider it complete.  Does anyone know the status of 'align'- or 'eqnarray'-style environments for math mode?

Math 'align' environment

I am not entirely satisfied with the format of the multi-line equations in the Derivations section. I have tried using align and eqnarray to keep them as a single equation; and hphantom, hspace, and quad to insert blank space at the beginning of the lines that need it, all without success. Does anybody know how to make an equation array correctly aligned here?

Update: I have searched the forums and found other people with this problem, but still no solution. This is, I believe, the only thing left for this article before I would consider it complete. Does anyone know the status of 'align'- or 'eqnarray'-style environments for math mode?
