Media on the Citizendium is categorized two ways:
- "High-free", "Intermediate-free", and "Non-free"
- Note that each of these are color coded:
- Templates with green backgrounds are considered High-free—these are varied licenses that allow both derivatives and commercial usages.
- Templates with yellow backgrounds are considered Intermediate-free—these are varied licenses that in some way restrict either or both derivatives and commercial usages.
- Templates with red backgrounds are considered Non-free—these are generally copyrighted and used by permission and in some way restrict usages outside of the Citizendium.
