Glad to see this new entry on Descartes' work -- but the diagram makes my eyes hurt a bit, and I'm not sure what it adds.  Could it perhaps be downsized a bit, or placed a bit further down the page, or thumbnailed slightly?  Also, perhaps [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/90/Descartes_Discourse_on_Method.png/180px-Descartes_Discourse_on_Method.png this] image should be added at the top?  [[User:Russell Potter|Russell Potter]] 09:35, 8 May 2007 (CDT)

The Discourse itself has little in the way of actual mathematics; it's pretty much pure philosophy.  The treatises published ''with'' the Discourse were mathematical, but "the Discourse on Method" just refers to the methodological treatise. --[[User:Larry Sanger|Larry Sanger]] 07:46, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Glad to see this new entry on Descartes' work -- but the diagram makes my eyes hurt a bit, and I'm not sure what it adds. Could it perhaps be downsized a bit, or placed a bit further down the page, or thumbnailed slightly? Also, perhaps this image should be added at the top? Russell Potter 09:35, 8 May 2007 (CDT)

I tried to make an overview of the method with a diagram. The original idea came from a "featured article" in the Portuguese wikipedia. For now, I shall move it down. I shall not be offended if you remove it. I may try something else later. Daniel Demaret 09:45, 9 May 2007 (CDT)
I took away the diagram for now. Daniel Demaret 14:16, 9 May 2007 (CDT)

Mathematics, not really

The Discourse itself has little in the way of actual mathematics; it's pretty much pure philosophy. The treatises published with the Discourse were mathematical, but "the Discourse on Method" just refers to the methodological treatise. --Larry Sanger 07:46, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
