Rimantadine is an RNA synthesis inhibitor that is used as an antiviral drug in the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza A that is based on the structure of adamantane and is similar to the drug amantadine. It is effective against all antigenic subtypes of influenza A but is not effective against influenza B. The mechanism of action for this drug is not definitively known but it may hinder the uncoating of the virus.

Its IUPAC chemical name is 1-(1-adamantyl)ethanamine and it has chemical formula C12H21N. It is sold under the brand names Flumadine®, Levofloxacin hydrochloride® and Rimantadine HCL®. It is a structural analog of the chemical adamantane.
