A container ship is a kind of merchant vessel specialized for carrying intermodal containers.
Intermodal containers come in standard sizes, and are designed to be quickly trans-shipped from one mode of transport, to another.
Container ships range in capacity from hundreds of containers, to several tens of thousands.
Specialized container ports, use specialized cranes to load and unload containers from ships to specialized trucks or railway cars.
