Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Larry Sanger 17:18, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Response to your question about the Piquet article on Daniel Mietchen's Talk page
Peter: I posted a response (that I hope is helpful) to your question about the status of Piquet on User talk:Daniel Mietchen. Best regards, Milton Beychok 17:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Me too. And if you ar not sure about the metadata, take a look at CZ:Article structure or ask again. --Daniel Mietchen 19:12, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Buddhism/Religion Articles
Hey Peter--
Welcome to Citizendium. I'm glad to see someone else has popped up here who is interested in improving our religion articles (as well as-- to infer from your Pali Text Society articles-- a fellow Sanskritist). Our Buddhism stuff, in particular, is in a parlous state. Feel free to make whatever changes you like to the Buddhism article. I put out a similar request for comments a little while ago (on the Buddhism article in particular), and I have not heard anything back. I believe the outline on the Buddhism pages is mine, so please feel free to remove or switch it around. (I do like David Volk's comment on the forum to start off with modern practice, though.)
As you can probably tell, our religion articles need all the help they can get. Feel free to make changes or comments on Hinduism, Ashram system, Bhagavad Gita, Vedas, Yoga, Buddha, Upanishad (which should probably be moved to Upaniṣad or Upaniṣads, come to think of it), as well as whatever Christian stuff you feel like doing: Christianity, Nicene Creed, Papacy, Augustine of Hippo, Authors of the Bible, New Testament/Old Tesament, Pope John Paul II, Reformation/Reformed churches/Reformed theology. If my presumption about Sanskrit was right, please have a look at the article. The time may even be right to get something started on Pali. Don't get overwhelmed, of course; any contributions you could make would be great.
Take care, Brian P. Long 23:21, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Euclid's elements
Hi Peter, why don't you update Euclid's elements? I made an Ansatz of this article a while ago, but I'm sure you can improve it.--Paul Wormer 10:59, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- No there is no policy, but since Euclid's elements already exists, I would think that your energy would be better spent on that article. Now there is some duplication which is wasteful and makes it harder to find one's way in CZ.--Paul Wormer 11:20, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep up the good works on Euclid's elements! Regards --Paul Wormer 16:48, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for your updates to the OT and Books of the Bible pages. They have added knowledge I lacked. Keep it up! Michael Yates 17:25, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Aether
Peter, I wrote about ether in physics and then I found it appropriate to write a little piece about he Greek god Aether. However, this topic is way beyond my horizon of expertise. I see that you are interested in religion, do you happen to know something about ancient Greek religion? If so, then could you improve my stub on Aether, the Greek god? Thanks, --Paul Wormer 13:33, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Notes
You're welcome. Why, I wonder, is the method for displaying footnotes so cryptic -- angle brackets and a virgule at the end? And under what circumstances would you NOT want the notes to appear? Seems that making them appear should be the default. Oh well.
Thank you for undertaking to rewrite the Buddhism article, which desperately needed it. Bruce M.Tindall 17:15, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Prime numbers
Hi Peter, I saw that you left a msg for Michael Hardy. I haven't seen him around for a long time, so maybe he won't answer you. It is best that you fix the error in the draft, and that you ask Barry Smith or Jitse Niessen (math editors who are still active) to have a look at it and then Matt Innis to replace the article by the draft. --Paul Wormer 12:09, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Nicene Creed
Mr. Jackson,
Your deletions of large amounts of sourced text and persistence in adding your won material has been reported to the CZ Constabulary. Please refrain from making wholesale deletions and using original work.Thomas Simmons 21:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Eastern Orthodox Church
Thanks for the answer to one of my questions. Down at the end of the painfully long Talk:Eastern_Orthodox_Church#Editor_assistance_requested section, I've added some text, a proposed rewrite. Any comment there? Sandy Harris 00:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Citizendium charter drafting commitee nomination
Hi Peter, You've been nominated by a fellow Citizendium member to be a candidate for election to the Citizendium charter drafting committee.
If you haven't been following the discussion in the forums, we're getting ready to establish a charter for Citizendium that outlines the project's goals, ideals, and basic structure. To get the process moving, we put together a plan for electing a group of Citizens to compose a draft of the charter, which will then be submitted for community review. You can find more about the plan here.
You've been nominated by another Citizen to be a candidate for election to that committee. The next step is up to you: you may either accept or decline the nomination by going here and following the instructions at the top of the page.
If you have any questions, just let any of those who accepted know. Peter Schmitt 00:41, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Peter, I nominated you, but only yesterday, not weeks ago. My reason: Recently, you have actively contributed to discussions on general CZ topics. This shows your interest. It does not matter, I think, that you have taken a long break before. However, if you accept this nomination is up to you. Of course, if you were elected, participating will take some of your time. Peter Schmitt 10:59, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Charter drafting nomination
Hi Peter,
You were nominated by a fellow Citizendium member to be a candidate for a position on the Citizendium charter drafting committee, but you haven't indicated whether you want to accept or decline. To learn more about what the committee is all about, you can go to the page that describes the process. To indicate that you either accept or decline the nomination to participate in the process as a committee member, you should visit the subpage for nominations; there are instructions on what to do on that page.
Thanks much!

Re re-approval of Boiling point/Draft
Peter, will you please review Milton's responses to your comments on th Talk page regarding Boiling point/Draft, and note on the Talk page whether you consider them satisfactory, and if not, why not. Also, would you give your assessment of the article as to its meriting re-approval.
Thank you. —Anthony.Sebastian 03:04, 29 February 2012 (UTC), Aproval Manager.
