South Asia is not always precisely defined. One description used by the Central Intelligence Agency includes the British Indian Ocean Territory, Myanmar and countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
Southwest Asia includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia and sometimes Iran.
