The company was founded in 1935, through the merger of Fox Film Corporation, founded by William Fox in 1915, and Twentieth Century Pictures, founded in 1933. The "Fox" in its name, therefore, has nothing to do with Fox Broadcasting Company, also owned by News Corporation.
