Homeopathy Study in Cuba

Gareth, you deleted a reference to a study of 3 million Cubans and wrote: "The trial was run by the Finlay Institute, and the authors were employees of this the commercial suppliers of the product; clear conflict of interest (oddly undeclared)" First, I would like to know the reference that you have this assertion, and equally important, what evidence do you have that employees of a company in a communist country like Cuba get financial benefits? To-Approve Nomination Banner Posted for Oxytocin

Gareth, I nominated your first-class article on Oxytocin. Will re-read Pseudoscience with view to doing the same.

Will you, when you have time, look at Life/Draft for your thoughts on what it may need to replace the currently approved version. I think it much improved over the currently approved version, which now seems embarrassingly exiguous. It may carry the distinction as the longest CZ article, but 'Life' needs a thorough treatment, as few subjects qualify as larger than life.

Also think Thylakoid covers the essentials and might merit nomination, though I would continue to work on a post-approval draft version.

You'll be able to see for yourself as soon as the MC releases the first report from our new Google Analytics installation, but I thought I'd mention that two articles, Micrococcus luteus and Proteus vulgaris, have been getting a lot of traffic. I tried to figure out why that would be, but can't find a solution. In any case, it might be worth looking over those articles to make sure they are in good shape. Sysop

Hey Gareth, I was looking at the role of the Ombudsman and I noticed this part, "The role of Ombudsman is not that of judge or jury, nor is it to recommend or impose sanctions.", but I notice that as Ombudsman you are listed as a sysop so technically you have the ability to impose sanctions even if you do not see that as part of your job.

I was wondering then why the Ombudsman has the sysop right, and what situation could you see yourself using it. As a secondary question, how come the ME does not have sysop rights? Cheers. David Finn 09:40, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

I was given those rights early in the project; I've never used the power to impose sanctions, can't see myself using them in that way except in exceptional circumstances, and believe I have them as a fallback in the event of, for example, unavailability of constables. The MC decides who has those rights, so I can't answer for them about the ME.Gareth Leng 10:54, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
