On 21 February 2019, at an overhead bridge along Bukit Batok Road, near the ITE College West, an 18-year-old ITE student, Tusheta Saravanan, splashed her green tea at a 17-year-old schoolmate, Logeswari Natarajah.

Tusheta was accompanied by two friends while Logeswari was accompanied by three. Neither parties knew each other. An argument started and ended when Logeswari left. Logeswari later returned to the overhead bridge with a cup of milo and splashed it on Tusheta's face, and Tusheta responded by stabbing Logeswari in the abdomen and slashing her left arm with a foldable knife.
