Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Roger Lohmann 17:59, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Some ideas for contributions
Hei Tore, welcome aboard CZ. Roger has already given you some hints as to how things work here in general, and I wish to add some more practical suggestions on what possibilities you have to contribute. For a start, I just took some of the keywords from the information you supplied upon registration, and display below the current state of related CZ articles (for icon documentation, see Template:Rpl/Doc):
- Network [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Network analysis [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Weighted network [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Two-mode network [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Longitudinal network [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Neural network [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Social network [r]: An abstract or formal structure of serial social relations consisting of nodes (persons or roles) and links (the relations between nodes). [e]
- Knowledge [r]: On one common account by philosophers, justified, true belief; often used in a looser way by everyone else to mean any truth or belief, and also a whole body of truth or a whole system of belief. [e]
- Knowledge transfer [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Science 2.0 [r]: An umbrella term used to label the use of Web 2.0 tools for scientific purposes. [e]
- Collaboration [r]: The practice of working together. [e]
- Data sharing [r]: The practice of making data available to interested parties who have not gathered them. [e]
- R [r]: An open source programming language for statistical analysis and visualization. [e]
- R package [r]: Add brief definition or description
- Norwegian language [r]: North Germanic language spoken primarily in Norway; 4.7 million speakers. [e]
- Store Norske Leksikon [r]: The largest print encyclopedia issued in Bokmål, and the second largest online (after the Norwegian Wikipedia); published by Kunnskapsforlaget. [e]
- Norway [r]: A constitutional monarchy in northern Europe on the western side of the Scandinavian Peninsula. [e]
- Oslo [r]: Capital and largest city of Norway. [e]
- London [r]: Please do not use this term in your topic list, because there is no single article for it. Please substitute a more precise term. See London (disambiguation) for a list of available, more precise, topics. Please add a new usage if needed.
- California (U.S. state) [r]: A state of the United States located on the west coast of the North American continent. [e]
In order to find articles dealing with similar topics, it's also worth looking at the Related Article subpages of such an article (or the [r]).
Furthermore, in case you are involved in homework assignments, please consider doing so via Eduzendium articles.
You can help future newcomers by giving your feedback on the above suggestions. To do so, please leave a note on my talk page.
Finally, since our areas of interest seem to overlap in networks of scientific collaboration, you may be interested in taking a look at my blog, e.g. at this post.
