==Gotta have an Apple==
Brown purchased a Mac Classic in 1991 and is fond of Macintosh computers. He likes to use Sherlock (a Macintosh search feature) to help find information on the Internet using his iBook.

''I've got the Special Edition graphite, which is perfect for me, and it cost $1,700. I could spend almost four grand for a full-blown PowerBook, but to tell you the truth, I don't need that. And I like the fact that the iBook's got a handle on it -- I can toss it around; it's extremely durable physically. It's got a great screen, I don't need a floppy drive, it's got CD-ROM, and I'm a huge USB fan.''<ref> {{cite web | url = http://www.macworld.com/article/1994/2001/03/buzzbrown.html | title = Add Apples for Flavor | accessdate = 2011-05-13}}</ref>

When not working on his Apple computer, Brown loves to ride motorcycles and owns a BMW R1100RT. He's a strong proponent of motorcycle safety and regularly attends Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes. When riding his BMW, he wears full protective gear including a helmet, ballistic jacket, pants, boots and rding gloves. "I don't feel right if I'm on the bike and not wearing my gear - it just feels -- well, wrong."<ref> {{cite web | url = http://www.roadfly.com/magazine/14/alton_brown.1.html | title = Chef Alton Brown of "Good Eats" Writer, Director, Food Hacker & Gear Head | accessdate = 2011-05-13}}</ref>

==Personal life==
Brown lives near Atlanta, Georgia, USA with his wife, DeAnna, and their daughter, Zoey. The Brown family has two hound dogs.<ref> {{cite web | url = http://www.tv.com/alton-brown/person/219990/biography.html | title = tv.com Alton Brown | accessdate = 2011-05-13}}</ref>In 1992, he received a full immersion baptism at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.<ref> {{cite web | url = http://www.goodeatsfanpage.com/ABFP/ABArticles/2007-04_ATL_mag.htm | title = Atlanta Magazine, April 2007, ALTON BROWN STEAKS HIS CLAIM | accessdate = 2011-05-13}}</ref>

In 1992, Brown says, he found God, or maybe God found him, but he blundered away until he became a born-again Christian. "The single biggest life-changing thing for me is I just got baptized last year. Everything else pales in comparison to acceptance of Christianity. That's number one." He keeps a Bible in his dressing room now, not to show he's pious but because he needs the help. "At Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, baptism is a full-immersion thing, and we joke that the water didn't spit me back out."
