To become a contributor at Citizendium, please email manager A T citizendium.org with the following information:

1. your real first and last name (to use as a logon account)[1]

2. a scan or photo of a document proving that a person of your first and last name owns the email you are using (it can be a photo or scan of a utility bill, ID card or other official document)[2]

3. a brief writeup for your User page to help other wiki contributors know who you are[3][4]

4. please list up to three Workgroups that interest you from among those on https://citizendium.org/wiki/Welcome_to_Citizendium[5]

That's it! Our volunteer membership screeners may need a few days to create your new account (or, occasionally, to notify you why it was not done).

Notes

  1. We sometimes will allow you to use first and middle initials in place of a first name. An example is E. J. Diamond.
  2. NOTE: You must be at least 16 years old to join. The document scan or photo will be deleted after we have verified your name (and that you are old enough). You are welcome to blur out some personal information such as address, but in cases where your age is not obviously 16 or older, we may need a verification of your birth year.
  3. The User page write-up should be at least a brief description of experience, skills or interests that might be helpful to other authors in the wiki in understanding your background during collaboration in the wiki. It need not reveal anything about your location, age, or gender, but if it is too sparse or trivial, we might also deny your application. No particular background or training is required, only an interest in sharing your knowledge--objectively--with others.
  4. We have a policy against self promotion or PR, and our User pages are not indexed by search engines.
  5. Your most likely areas of interest may help other contributors reach out to you for collaboration. However, you will be able to write on any topic whatsoever within our content policy.
