The New York Mets are a Major League Baseball team based in New York, New York. The team was founded in 1962 as an expansion team in the National League.[1]

The team has had a total of two championship-winning seasons in the modern era (1901 and later) of major-league baseball, winning the World Series in 1969 and 1986. They were also National League champions, but lost in the World Series, three times, in 1973, 2000, and 2015.
