The Alleghany and the Monongahela rivers join at Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River.

The Monongahela River is a tributary to the Ohio River with its headwaters in the Alleghany Mountains.[1]

The first steamboat to make a round trip from the Ohio River to New Orleans, Louisiana, and back, was built in Brownsville, on the Monongahela.[1]
