Algenib (from Arabic الجنب al-janb, "the flank" or الجانب al-jānib, "the flank"), whose Bayer designation is γ Pegasi, the star that is the lower left-hand corner of the Great Square of Pegasus. In Chinese, it is known as the First Star of the Wall.

Algenib is of spectral class B2.

Note that α Pegasi is sometimes referred to as Algenib, but is more commonly known as Mirfak.
