Crickets are insects belonging to the family Gryllidae.
Cricket song is an interesting, melodic series of chirping sounds created by male crickets. These sounds are associated with mating. Since crickets are nocturnal, the sounds are also associated with warm country nights, and it is a sound that country dwellers may miss if they move to or sojurn in cities.
