Croatia (Croatian: Hrvatska), officially the Republic of Croatia (Croatian: Republika Hrvatska), is a Mediterranean country in the north-western part of the Balkans. Its capital is Zagreb. Croatia borders with Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east, Montenegro to the southeast, and the Adriatic Sea to the west.
Croatia is a candidate for the EU membership and is expecting NATO membership invitation in April 2008.
