Richard Bruce "Dick" Cheney (January 30, 1941–) is the former Vice President of the United States under George W. Bush. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, grew up in Casper, Wyoming. Before becoming Vice President in 2001, he was the White House Chief of Staff in the Ford administration, a Representative for Wyoming (elected in 1978), and was Secretary of Defense under George H. W. Bush, overseeing Operation Desert Storm. He has been chairman and CEO of the Halliburton Company from 1995 to 2000. Cheney, and his wife Lynne, have two daughters: Elizabeth and Mary who is an out lesbian.
