Mogadishu is the largest city, largest port, and official capital of Somalia, in East Africa, although it remains extremely dangerous. The situation involves more than street crime; there is active fighting. [1]
Current situation
According to the UN High Commissioner on Refugees, the last round of fighting started on May 8. At least 20,000 residents have been displaced; see Mogadishu/External Links for a map.
