Is "disambiguation" appropriate here?

As I understand the disambiguation concept, it does not include cases like this one in which the base page name can be reduced to one principle that applies to all entries currently listed. In such cases, I think it is better to have the general principle outlined in the base page article, which then (along with its related Articles page) can link to all the different types. --Daniel Mietchen 19:30, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
