The New York Mets are a Major League Baseball team based in New York, New York. The team was founded in 1962 as an expansion team in the National League.
Championships
The team has had a total of two championship-winning seasons in the modern era (1901 and later) of major-league baseball, winning the World Series in 1969 and 1986. They were also National League champions, but lost in the World Series, three times, in 1973, 2000, and 2015.
Locations
Since the team's inception in 1962, they have been based in New York City. They play their home games at Shea Stadium.
