The Lower Trenton Bridge over the Delaware River, by which trains cross from Trenton into Pennsylvania, is visible to automobile traffic crossing the river on U.S. Route 1. For many years, one of the letters of the sign "Trenton Makes, the World Takes" were burned out. To the amusement of the local population, the burnt-out letters were finally replaced in 2016 immediately before Donald Trump visited the city.
