3G refers to the global standard of third generation wireless communication. This standard is defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the name, "International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000)". The framework links both mobile satellite-based networks and stationary land-based networks to provide wireless access worldwide.
