A system of alternative medicine whose practitioners administer minute, specially prepared doses of substances with the intention to stimulate the body's natural healing processes, substances that when given in large doses to healthy individuals causes a combination of symptoms similar to those of the medical conditions the practitioners target for treatment; the fundamental premises of the system mainstream science judges unproven.
