The Foundation Series is a series of Hugo Award-winning science fiction stories begun by Isaac Asimov. The first of the Foundation stories appeared in John W. Campbell's "Astounding Science Fiction" in 1942. The original short stories were collected as "The Foundation Trilogy" starting in 1951. Asimov continued the series with "Foundations Edge" 1n 1982. Since Asimov's death in 1992, the series has been continued by authors such as Gregory Benford, Greg Bear, and David Brin.
