In medicine, the CD4 lymphocyte count is "the number of CD4-positive T-lymphocytes per unit volume of blood. Determination requires the use of a fluorescence-activated flow cytometer."[1]

This count is used to monitor Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 and AIDS.
