Microsoft Works was a desktop office suite built for MS-DOS and the Windows in versions 1-9. Microsoft Works was originally created in 1998 for MS-DOS and was ported to Windows 3 in version 2.0a. Microsoft Works included a word processor, spreadsheet, database, communications, and calendar. Microsoft Works was less featured and cheaper than other office suites costing only $40 retail. Microsoft Works was discontinued in 2007 at version 9.
