The Lower Trenton Bridge over the Delaware River, by which trains cross from Trenton into Pennsylvania, is visible to automobile traffic crossing the river on U.S. Route 1. For many years, one of the letters of the sign "Trenton Makes, the World Takes" was burned out. To the amusement of local residents, the burnt-out letters were finally replaced in 2016 immediately before Donald Trump visited the city.

Trenton, New Jersey is the capital city in the U.S. state of New Jersey and the seat of Mercer County. The city of Trenton has about 90,000 people, nearly half of which are African American and more than one-third Hispanic. The greater urban area has around 368,000 people.
