The Sun is a large yellow dwarf star[1] in our solar system which has 8 planets and other celestial bodies revolving around it.[2] It is extremely hot, with surface temperatures in excess of 5,000 °C and a central core temperature greater than 10,000,000 °C.[1] Since the Sun is about 150,000,000 kilometers from the Earth,[2] only a very small amount of its heat and light reach the Earth. By contrast, the Earth's moon is very much smaller and very much colder.[3]
