Port Hardy is a community of 5,000 people at the northern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It is named after Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, Horation Nelson's flag-Captain at the Battle of Trafalgar.[1] The port is the southern terminus for two of BC Ferries longer routes: the route to Prince Rupert, just south of the Alaska panhandle; and the route to Bella Bella, Shearwater, Klemtu and Bella Coola in the Queen Charlotte Islands.[2]
