The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is the title of the H.R. 3590, the major health care reform legislation passed in March 2010 as Public Law 111-148. President Barack Obama signed it on 24 March 2010. It is based on a Senate draft of health care legislation, which, in turn, came from the November 2009 House version, H.R. 3962.
Only Democrats voted for it in the U.S. House of Representatives; the final vote was 219-212.
