The Comité International des Poids et Mesures (in American English: International Committee for Weights and Measures), abbreviated CIPM, is an international standards organization that through various resolutions from time to time sets measurement standards for various fundamental quantities such as the SI units.[1] The various standards usually are adopted by approval as resolutions of the Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures, CGPM,[2] and are available on web sites maintained by the BIPM[3] and by NIST[4]. Its member states can be found on the BIPM website.[5]
