User talk:Ruth Ifcher
Dear Ruth,
As a constable, I think there's something that will need your attention: One User:Vladimir Shpak created an Article called Vladimir Shpak. This is probably a mistake, as the info is such that he would have on his user page. It should be deleted, I think. SEO also sounds like a test rather than anything serious. vandalism
Ruth
Is the vandalism over yet? I see no activity anymore. Robert Tito 22:19, 30 January 2007 (CST) I reinstalled Jeff Cook, but the jerks seem still busy playing fools. I think there is no damage other then name calling, though what they sent to Nancy was of no decency at all. Will do Robert Tito 22:43, 30 January 2007 (CST)
restoring damage
Hello Ruth,
I need your assistance in this: user Jeff Cook, whose name always popped up at the pages that were vandalized yesterday was banned by me. Apparently he was there just to see who it was and if he could help us. I resored his being blocked, YET he keeps getting autoblack-signals - he can't enter CZ. Please tell me where and what I can do to change that into good working order. There is no block to be found on Jeff Cook. So I don't know what to do to help him now. thanks if you havbe some solution for me to help him. kind regards, Rob Robert Tito 18:03, 31 January 2007 (CST) here is what I see now, this was not in place 30 mins ago: 14:47, 31 January 2007, Robert Tito (Talk) blocked #216 (expires 14:47, 1 February 2007) (unblock) (Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Jeff Cook". The reason given for Jeff Cook's block is: "vandalism")
defaults
Ruth, The standard setting should be default, not the vandalism setting. I think I will post a bug there. Most use DHCP so there will not be a problem, but that what you said is exactly what I think might have happened to Mr. Cook. having a steady fixed IP address. I will play with him - with his approval of course and see if I can revoke that by blocking then unblocking again as you suggested. I would prefer the create account an OPTION, not a set option - as vandals dont come here often, but yesterday it was rather much to do, and I had no notion who was on and who was not - quick action is then preferred. So I am going to opt for default: able to recreate. Hope you agree. Rob, tadaaa, or in US- pigeon, see ya :) Robert Tito 21:44, 31 January 2007 (CST)

Frank W Sweet article on "race"
Please examine the exchange at "Threatened Deletion" in Talk:Race. Less than 48 hours after my starting an article in my professional specialty, and before any editor in the workgroups have examined it, a constable has threatened to delete it. If this is a serious threat, I have little incentive to continue working on it or even to particpate in CZ. Frank W Sweet 22:31, 10 May 2007 (CDT)

Need technical advice on subpages
Ruth, I started an article Evening primrose and then added {{subpages}} to it, which somehow buggered it up and left it in a weird state. I thought this used to work, and I don't know how to get at the article anymore because I get an error page instead. I probably ought to understand the error page, but I don't really. Can you 1) help me out of the bind? and 2) educate me on how to avoid this in the future. It's not the first time it's happened; someone always bails me out, but I am ready to learn how to avoid and the right way to go about adding subpages to an already existing article in the future. Thanks much in advance for any help you can give.Pat Palmer 14:06, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- I just bailed you out but it sounds like you want to learn to fish :) All you needed to do was start the metadata template which is required for using the subpages. Possibly the opening error message is not clear enough. It asks if you are starting a new page or in the process of moving a page. Should it actually ask "are you trying to add sugpages"? Regardless, if you follow the link for 'new page' you will find there is a another link to create a new metadata page. This is useful as there is a preload associated with that link. All you need to do is add the pagename to the field. It would be useful to fill out some of the others too ('abc' field, at least one 'cat' and 'status' are the important ones). This is a prehistoric interface, so it is not intuitive. Hopefully someone will code us something more user friendly for the future. Chris Day 14:32, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Final approval of Accidental release source terms was supposed to be yesterday
Ruth, the nomination period was completed and the final approval was supposed to occur yesterday, October 26th. Matt Innis usually does that but he seems to be unavailable at this time. Would you please be so kind as the complete the final approval? Thanks, Milton Beychok 18:27, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ruth, if you give me the go ahead I could do it for you. Chris Day 18:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Eliminating pseudonyms
Hi Ruth, as things stand, the charter draft is going to eliminate the possibility of pseudonyms. If you see any problem with that, please let us know. We would also appreciate comments on the time frame in which the existing pseudonym accounts should be blocked, or on any other aspect of the matter. Thank you, --Daniel Mietchen 07:07, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
You've been Nominated!
Someone has nominated you for a position in the new Citizendium. They have noticed you're dedication to the project and like what they see. To be listed on the ballot for the position, it is necessary that you accept the nomination on the [[CZ:Nomination page|Nomination page]. Just place accept next to your name along with the four tildes. The nomination period will close at midnight October 7 (UTC). Article 54 of the new charter details the requirements:
Article 54
- In conjunction with the Declaration of the Editor-in-Chief regarding the effectivity of this Charter, there shall be a call for nominations for the following offices: Managament Council (five seats), Editorial Council (seven seats), Managing Editor (one), Ombudsman (one). This shall be the effective date of the Charter.
- Any Citizen may nominate candidates for these positions.
- Nominations shall be collected and collated by the Chief Constable.
- Nominations shall be accepted no more than fourteen days after the effective date of the charter; the ballot shall be available starting on the twentieth day after the effective date of the charter; the election shall be completed no more than twenty-eight days after the effective date of the charter; all elected officials shall begin their term of office on the thirtieth day after the effective date of the charter.
- Only candidates who accept their nomination shall be eligible to appear on the ballot. Nominated candidates can accept nominations for no more than two official functions. Accepting a nomination serves as a declaration of commitment, in the case of being elected, to fulfill this function until the limit of the term.
- All positions shall be elected by a simple majority of the voting citizenry. In the case of a tie, an immediate run-off election shall be held.
- In the event that a candidate has been elected for two functions, the candidate shall declare which one he or she accepts within three days of announcement of the election results. In the event that such a declaration has not been made during this period, the candidate shall be considered elected for the position for which the nomination was accepted first. The same procedure applies to a reserve member that becomes elected by a seat being vacated this way.

Thanks again for the commitment you're making to assure that Citizendium becomes the premier quality online source we all have envisioned.

Forums
I've been waiting about half a year now to get a forum account approved so I can communicate with other users here and ask questions to learn how Citizendium works. It's why after having my citizen account approved I didn't start participating with articles sooner. How long does it take for forum approval to occur? --Joshua Zambrano 23:02, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
