Controversy

"Lousy school" comment

He's illiterate... Seriously, how did he get into RI? Must have been a lousy school. — Vivian Balakrishnan, 15 September 2021

During the parliament debate on 15 September 2021, Vivian Balakrishnan commented on Leong Mun Wai's (PSP member, and the NCMP of 14th Parliament of Singapore) education when having conversation with another MP, “He's illiterate... Seriously, how did he get into RI? Must have been a lousy school.” The microphone near Vivian recorded his words live and broadcasted publicly. After Vivian’s comment was exposed, he phoned Leong to apologize for his words.[1]
