Sender Rewriting Scheme (SRS) is a scheme for email relays to rewrite the Return Address on a forwarded message so that bounces can be intercepted and processed before going back to the original sender. The scheme was proposed by the group promoting SPF as a way of avoiding the forwarding problem, but it was never widely deployed.
