Rationale

In approved articles

From the template documentation:

I'm sure this can be worked into the subpages template with ifexist perimeters. That way, it shows up by default and simply disappears when an article becomes approved. But for now, this template must be manually added, and then removed just prior article approval, since __NOEDITSECTION__ included in the approval fails to kill this template.

Manually adding and deleting it sucks is a non-starter, really. Approval has too many manual steps in it already. Can we test the value of __NOEDITSECTION__ directly? If not, we can always fall back on interrogating the value of the 'status' field from the metadata. J. Noel Chiappa 17:29, 7 March 2008 (CST)

As you noticed I have added the "noedisection" and {{editintro}} to the subpages template. At present it is only on draft pages and unapproved articles. The __NOEDITSECTION__ is only placed on approved articles. Is this about right or do we need other tweeks? Chris Day (talk) 00:50, 8 March 2008 (CST)
Cool, that's very helpful for folks on dial up, Chris. Stephen Ewen 01:03, 8 March 2008 (CST)
That looks right to me too, Chris. Thanks very much for dealing with that so promptly! (Now all we have to do is remove the {{editintro}} from pages where it was manually added! :-) J. Noel Chiappa 08:06, 8 March 2008 (CST)
