Regent University was founded in 1978 by Rev. Pat Robertson, as a center of "Christian thought and action." It was incorporated as Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) University, Robertson's media outlet, but renamed in 1990. It received regional accreditation in 1984.
The main campus is in Virginia Beach, Virginia, although there is a campus in Washington, D.C. as well.
