Dexamethasone is an anti-inflammatory, immunosupressant 9-fluoro-glucocorticoid medication that acts as a hormone antagonist. It is structurally related to glucocorticoids, steroids, bile salts, and cholesterol. It is also an antiememetic that reduces nausea and vomiting, and an antineoplastic agent that be can used to treat hormone-sensitive tumors.
