Loc Ninh, in the Binh Dinh Province of Vietnam, is 6 km east of the Cambodian border and 70 miles north of Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, on Highway 13 north of An Loc. When there were times of relative peace, it was the heart of a rubber plantation.

In 1967, it was a Special Forces camp, for four understrength battles of irregulars.
