In medicine, sertraline is a second-generation antidepressant that is a "selective serotonin uptake inhibitor that is used in the treatment of depression."[1]

History

It was developed by Pfizer and approved for marketing by the United States of America Food and Drug Administration in 1991.[2] It is now manufactured generically.
