Cupid was the son of Venus according to Roman mythology.

Cupid is the god of erotic love and beauty according to Roman mythology. The word cupid comes from the Latin cupido meaning desire. He is also known by another one of his Latin names, Amor (cognate with Kama). He is the son of goddess Venus and god Mercury. Today the popular image is Cupid shooting an arrow of love into the hearts of people, not to kill them, but to cause them to fall in love or be overcome with sexual desire. He's an icon of Valentine's Day.
