Garcilaso de la Vega (born c. 1498–1503, Toledo, Spain–died 14 October 1536, Nice, France) was a Spanish soldier and poet whose works most effectively introduced Italian Renaissance verse forms, poetic techniques and themes to Spain. Another Garcilaso de la Vega was published after de la Vega's death, the later author more commonly known as El Inca to avoid confusing the two.
