- Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years — an introductory essay by Peter Norvig on the importance of practical experience, feedback from and interaction with other programmers when embarking on learning to program in general, or in specific languages. In contrast to many bestselling self-teaching books, he argues that the benefits of training will not emerge in a matter of a few hours or days, but rather on the order of 10 years, or 10,000 hours of training on suitably challenging tasks.
