Steve Wozniak

(1950 - ) Steve Wozniak is a computer engineer and co-founder of Apple Inc. He was born San Jose, California and grew up in nearby Sunnyvale. Both communities are in The area near San Francisco, California known as Silicon Valley. Wozniak studied electrical engineering at University of California, Berkeley, enrolling in 1971, but dropping out before completing his degree to take a job at Hewlett Packard. He would complete his degree in the mid 1980's long after the launch of Apple Computer. Wozniak's partnership with Steve Jobs began in 1970. Jobs supplied marketing expertise while Wozniak created the hardware for a series of projects, starting with not entirely legal "blue boxes" for making free long-distance telephone calls and continuing with the first Apple computers. Wozniak left Apple in 1985.
