current year
I moved Melissa's changes to the student level subpage where it can be developed further. I can see this is worth experimenting with even if it does not end up on that subpage, possibly in its own namespace? Obviously we need to consider further discussions in the form but that does not mean we should not start such material. However, I'm unclear of the role the current year subpages is supposed to play. Possibly that type of supplementary material would be more relevant as a subpage of calendar? Even then, what purpose would links to every day serve? Chris Day 03:35, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
removed video from Student subpage
I removed the video from the subpage because it is a clear copyright violation. Just because something can be found at YouTube, where millions of viewers might see it, does not mean that it is in the public domain or that anyone is free to copy it. It may, in fact, be there illegally. In this case, the bottom of the video, when it starts, clearly says: "Copyright @ 2006, Ignite! Inc. All Rights Reserved".
Please see one of the Forum discussions for more this on-going topic. Hayford Peirce 22:47, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
A Biblical point of view here that needs to be edited
I am very concerned by a brief skimming of this "student" article -- it is clearly written from a point of view of someone who believes in the Hebrew-Christian Bible. CZ is not the place to push this agenda. There were many, MANY calendars that existed all over the world before the Hebrew calendar and the Bible was beginning to be written. To wit, the Babylonian, Indian, Chinese, and Egyptian calendars all existed long before the Hebrew calendar was originated.
If the use of "student" pages is to be used to push some particular agenda or other (I don't care one way or another what that agenda is, I am against ALL agendas), I shall certainly complain very plaintively to the Editor-in-Chief about what I consider to be a perversion of the Citizendium charter and purpose. - Note that our existing article Common Era rather runs into conflict here. There's also the aspect that it is used to bring in Judaeo-Christian traditions, which are not present for other religions. Further, isn't the CZ standard CE and BCE, which explicitly is not "Before Christ"? Howard C. Berkowitz 04:25, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
