Tramadol is an atypical opioid analgesic useful for mild to moderate pain, and having a low abuse potential. It is a midrange potency drug, between acetaminophen and stronger opioids, in the "pain pyramid" of the World Health Organization. It has veterinary as well as medical uses, and is administered orally.
Tramadol may lead to less adverse reactions than other opioid analgesics when use to treat osteoarthritis [1] and other rheumatologic disease.
