(PD) Photo: United States Navy Operation Sea Orbit: On July 31, 1964 USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) (bottom), USS Long Beach (CGN-9) (center), and USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25) (top) formed "Task Force One," the first nuclear-powered Task Force, and were sent on a 30,565-mile, 65-day voyage around the world. The first aircraft carrier to use nuclear propulsion, the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) has reached the end of her service life, having performing well in combat and demonstrating a great number of engineering lessons for new carrier designs. She carried on the distinguished name of the USS Enterprise (CV-6), the most decorated U.S. Navy ship of the Second World War.
