Born in Digboi, Assam, India in November 16 1937. Education in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Nagaon. Graduated in commerce from Gauhati University, Assam. Started career in Assam Oil Company and moved to Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, Jamshedpur in 1982, and left in 1993 as Senior Manager Hospital Administration. Joined Tata Tea Referral Hospital and Research Centre, Chabua, Assam as founder administrator, from where I retired in July 1996. Joined Manav Charitable Hospital, Bangalore, and subsequently moved to Anga Karunya Kendra, an NGO working for the locomotor disabled. Retired in September 2004.

Interests include sports (cricket, soccer), cooking and travel.
